SCRIPTURE OPENED, CHRIST REVEALED.

“Understandest thou what thou readest?”
…How can I, unless some man guides me?
Acts 8:30–31 (Douay-Rheims)

Scripture is not merely read.
It must be opened.
In the Acts of the Apostles, a man reads the prophet Isaiah and does not understand.
Philip is sent to him.
Beginning from that Scripture, he opens Christ to him.
The Philip Papers continue this same work:
These writings are not explanations of Scripture.
They are encounters with it.
Each begins with a question,
opens a passage,
and follows it until it is fulfilled in Christ.
“These meditations follow the order of The Divine Dialogue,
where God speaks. Man is revealed and responds. Christ mediates and fulfils.”
